I had no choice but to put my Mum in the liz today. My mum is nearly 70 and a short fat greek woman. She was really happy that I finally let her in (I was worried that I would never haul her out of the seat). She was eagerly asking "where shall we go?" and "wow finally in the lotus".
She lives down a large country lane so I pootled to the main road. There was a big lorry coming so I decided to nip out. I put my foot down and went to 60 with a little greek woman screaming SLOW DOWN!! then ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
7 miles to my house all at 35 still with a little greek woman screaming at me every time we went round a bend.
I will have the pajero to take her home.

Nice!
Did you notice a difference in the performance?
Was it necessary to read the RPM to find the second came or the volume was enough to know the limits of the powerband?
With all respect to you mother.
My mother would like to try also but with time passing and earing my stories with the car she asks less and less frequently. I don't know why

superb.....!!
I let my mum get into my elise first day I took it home to show em (about a week after geting it). After sitting in the drivers side and saying how nice it was, she opened the door to get out...and let go of it. At which point it swung slowly open and the very solid door end hit the dead centre panel of my Dads (thankfully compnay) 406 - leaving a very noticeable dent!! It was hysterical...she said "Dont tell your father" and then pretended it was someone else and how awful it was, and how could they just damage your car and walk off etc etc. Was bloody funny.
Considering she screams when I drive her micra, and the fact she got out of my diablo as I turned the engine on as she was already scared! I've never taken her for a spin!!

Great post Gooby - it does conjure up some vivid images!
My mother (mid 60's)is incidentally the complete opposite - her dad was a complete car nut - Bentleys, E-type jag etc and keen on racing. My folks spent a month visiting us in July and she was always game for a drive in the elise. She was happy as Larry while I was winding it around Hampshire A-roads and was even chuffed when I completely overcooked it on a roundabout and sent the tail out far more than planned. (Though I bricked it a bit)
I should have known from past experience that she has a pathological lack of fear. Come to think of it her mum was the same - I have memories of giving my then 83 year old grandma a white knuckle ride in my mini 1275 in the mid 80's.
On the other hand my old man more than compensates - white knuckles at 30mph. Definitely couldn't give it the full Schumacher.

Took my mum out last week. She screamed 'slow down' even before I got to 3000 revs or 60mph. Rubbish. Mum's are rubbish. Chicks, however, always scream 'faster!'. How does that work? Is there an age where women just get scared of everything?...
Err...
quit being so sneaky.
