Hi all,

Has anyone gone from a F10/11 5 series into a G80 3 series touring please?

I had a F11 530D which was perfect for me space wise (6” 3’ and 18 stone - closer to gym built than fat if that makes sense). I also had a F82 M4 which I thought was fine size wise when I test drove, but when I owned them both, every time I got in the 530 I appreciated the extra space.

I know each generation is supposed to get bigger - so has anyone noticed if the G80 sits somewhere between the F10 and F82, please?

I know the easiest option is to sit in one myself, but my nearest dealer is a fair trek and at the moment I’m just compiling what I’d like for my next car, and an M3 touring is high on the list.

Thank you!

Do you mean the G80 M3 touring; or the G21 3 series touring?

If the latter, they're a great car and plenty of room interior wise; you'll lose a good chunk of load space though, so that's worth thinking about...

If you mean the G80 M3 touring; the purple one Bowker BMW had in I sat in was mega; but that's because I was open-gobbed and drooling over it laugh and paid little attention to anything else biggrin

I test drove a 320i and 320D but unfortunately they were well out of budget that I was comfy with spending at that time (Jan 2023); settled on my F31 instead...

I'm a bit bigger than you as well, 6ft 4 and now c19.5 stone but was 22 stone at that time (eijit competitive powerlifter and stone-lifter but paying my dues now with a body trying to kill me, hence the weight loss) laughrolleyes

Deffo try one when you can; think you'll be nicely surprised... Great interior/great tech too

Apologies, I was looking at the M3 touring. But assumed it would be the same size as a M Sport G series 3 series? Seats and interior space?

Jesus - you’d dwarf me mate! Bet you had some ridiculous strength at that size!

Thanks for replying.

Stop asking; just get buying the M3 touring biggrinhehe

They look to be a fabulous car; if you'e in a position to buy one, do it IMO! The one Bowker BMW had in was very plush inside; felt very premium indeed and didn't lack in space; even with the height/width of me it was comfy enough...

Ok someone my size behind me in the front wouldn't be comfy but that's never really going to happen TBF

The M3 seats are more snug; but I was comfy in it. But that's just sitting; you'd deffo need a test drive to see how it is due to their shape. I'd want to know the side bolsters aren't going to dig into my lats etc (if that makes sense)

And this was one of my 'hobbies' before my body started to try and kill me a few years back...

Don't ask why; it just seemed to be natural progression laugh

Thats a 154kg stone.. Bloody awkward lump as well...

But the 118kg Menzies stone is the hardest I've done. It's egg shaped and like glass it's that smooth... As soon as it starts to get wet you're done

Keep us up to date with how you get on re the M3 Touring too
