My God is there no depths this man will not sink to in order to get his grinning fizzog on the TV ?

ANY sporting prowess &/or success shown by the National Team & this imbicile & his cronies spin into action to ensure that he & his freakishly mouthed wife are immediatly pictured, celebrating on the finely manicured lawns of No. 10.

Half expected him to issue forth with a speech on the "Peoples Team" (ala the Peoples Princess), whilst his bottom lip shook uncontrollably.

It is only right that the national leader should appear to celebrate national success, as well as being there at times of problems...

Don't see what the problem is, other than you don't like Tony Blair...

Why are you so surprised? It's as certain as the sun coming up in the morning that he will try for some of the glory.

In fairness they did use his wifes mouth as the model for the Lords press box so he has contributed something.

I wonder if any of the government will be at the opening of the new multi-million pound cricket academy?

Perhaps we could put the ashes of Tony Blair into a small urn to signify the death of British Democracy?

Well, he claims that he used to sit behind the goal at Newcastle and watch Jackie Milburn. Blair would have been 4 at the time, and there were no seats then

Now there's both a nice and not so nice thought at the same time.

I don't particularly like the man myself, but isn't it a bit desperate to use his understandable pleasure at England winning the cricket as an excuse to have a pop?

Not really - any excuse to haved a go. I agree with the point made by Beford Rascal - he uses any excuse to share in othere's success by association, whilst shirking away from taking responsibility for the godawful governmental -up that is Labour.

Silversun.

In a word, no. Dont consider that its desperate to mention the point that our noble Leader never misses a photo opportunity in such circumstances. If he wants to bask in the reflected glory of Cricket & any other sport, I wonder why he didnt arrange a press conference to commiserate with the English footballers after their 4-1 drubbing to Denmark.

Its almost as sickening as his ill fated & ultimately short lived attempts to court the "Brit Pop" culture of a few years ago when he invited the likes of Oasis & Blur into No. 10.

In any event, his other "achievements" in increasing tax liabilities on the working man, refusal to reduce the Welfare State, the reduction in Educational standards, the ever burgeoning Civil Service et al are well known on here already, so why would I merely go over old ground ?

Anyway, isnt Blair Scottish ?

That opens a whole can of worms about 'England' as a cricket team that I wasn't going to go into - just yet Anyone remember Mike Denness, captain of England? Not to mention a couple of current players of the name 'Jones'

John Howard (Australian PM) is a notorious cricket fan and you can bet your arse he would have been up front and claiming all the credit had Australia won, and it was SO good to see him have to begrudgingly accept Australia losing through gritted teeth, thankyou England it was worth it

No, I have my own mind and am able to see just what a disaster this man & his party have been for this Country without recourse to other sources of material.

No no no. I wasn't suggesting you had cribbed that statement from the book, I only asked because if you're interested in that kind of thing then it's a good book. Doesn't paint dear old Tone in a very good light.
