BMW e92 320d in 2024
Discussion
Potentially buying a 320d e92 next week. This particular one has very low mileage at 30k. As this is my first diesel what do you guys think of this? Is it better to get one with all the maintenance already done or start fresh with one that hasn't been touched?
I'm assuming it has been sitting for a good few years so would that affect?
Also what maintenance and mods would you do straight away?
Cheers

It may be OK.
If it's an early one it will have the M47 engine that doesn't seem to suffer cam-chain issues, or have a DPF, unlike the later ones with the N47 engine. The M47 has an exhaust tail-pipe that points downwards and does have a bit less power and higher emissions than the N47.
But at only 30K miles an N47 is unlikely to have cam-chain issues any time soon. My 123d had the N47 and was still running fine when I sold it on 81K miles, and passed an MOT last November on 132K!
Just bear in mind neither is ULEZ compliant if that might be an issue.
If it had been sitting for some time I'd want to get all fluids and filters replaced and any rubber components like suspension bushes checked. Tyres might have flat spots or be deteriorating from age so you'd want to factor in costs like that.
