So my BMW i5 has arrived. It’s an M40 M Sport in tanzanite with the smoky white interior and comfort and technology pack. Car is only on a short term 6 month lease and this is my first time trying electric. I do either local town driving or long distance for work so we will see how we go.

Thoughts so far are its very big, bigger than my old 13 plate 7 series from many years ago. Even though the the base 40 and not the mental M60 it goes well - the instant power when you put your foot down is fun and when you pull the ‘boost’ lever for full power you get this explosion of M colours having a party on the dash which is quite addictive and makes you feel like a school boy. Drives very ‘BMW’ though you can feel the weight through the bends. So far so good and we’ll see how we go..

That looks lovely!

My Dad's got an i5 for a weeks trial next week; a potential replacement for his X3M which is into its 3rd year now... He's still unsure re the range as they have property in the Highlands and it's winter that'll reduce the range etc... But Im know he's looking forward to seeing how it goes

It's interesting to see you say it's bigger than your previous F01; are these based on the F01 chassis?

I loved my F01; it's deffo not a small car; but perfect sized for me & I do regret selling it TBH!

Very different car to an X3M. I know what you mean about the range, it’s something I’m curious to see how I manage with as my work days out are sometimes 350-400 miles. We shall see! It is a lovely car to be in though so curious to see what you think to it too.

What a beautiful looking car, congrats! These new 5ers are massive, though!
