12 volt supercharger
Discussion
If nothing else I've had a computer lesson tonight!
Read the ad and tell me what you think. Sounds to good to true to me.Two stroke tuning has been my hobby for years so this is all new territory for me.
Peter, I wasnt thinking of buying one I've just never heard of them and was wondering whether they actually did anything.

Much better off getting an Ecotek valve.
Need two for an S series, maybe not quite 18 bhp more but a definate improvement for the money. Also cuts fuel costs. I think its about £60 per valve and as said above need 2. Fitted yourself in about 10 minutes and for some reason sounds like a supercharger under your hood.
If interested i'll dig out the website address for you.

I bought one just to see if they actually work and to be honest I dont know whether they do or dont as I never did an accurate before and after session on the rolling road. I did however have two rolling roads done at different places before and after, but due to the difference between rolling roads its not an exact science. What I will say is, when I did a rolling road at AMD WITH the supercharger the figures were 221bhp and 215 lb ft of torque and when I did it at Austec WITHOUT it was 202bhp and only 180 lb ft of torque, this was before Mark Adams played with it of course??? I dont know how these rolling roads compare I will ask Mark as he seems to know how much most of the rolling roads seems to vary. So although the figures are not comparable really, to the mechanical numpty that I am it appears that the supercharger may add a little power especially in torque as the % difference between bhp/lbft when removed was larger??? I dont know whether its as straight forward as that and I am sure Pete will be along to ridicule any minute
The real answer is I dont know, but I have one in the garage and if you want to come down to Austec and do a before and after comparison on the rolling road you are welcome to try, then if it increases power you can buy it from me if not Ill put it back in the garage. I only took it off really as I am moving to the twin throttle ACT plenum and it wouldnt go with this system so took it off so Mark Adams could work his magic.

Sorry - did you just say we could get an extra 18bhp for £120 - and fit it ourselves !!!!
I'm listening ...
LOL, read the following cut and paste from the website. It sounds mad but I added 2 to my 406 Coupe 3.0 v6se and it added definate power and noticably reduced fuel consumption. I have just purchased another 2 to add to my S1.
"Transform performance and save fuel!!!
Weve sold thousands of Ecotek widgets over the years, and this year looks no different. Available in Gold, Red, Blue and now Chrome - matching Pipercross filters also available! Easy DIY fit & 30 day money back guarantee, so try one out for yourself.
Faster acceleration!
Fuel savings!
Less carbon deposits!
Reduce emissions!
Fits all petrol cars
FACT 1 - Better acceleration
Used by tuners of performance engines and on number of competitive touring and sports cars the Ecotek incorporates the same swirl technology now commonly used in racing engines. The effect of the CB-26P is to create a better suspension of fuel molecules in the mixture you get an improvement in the combustion process making acceleration smoother and more rapid! Turbulence in the inlet manifold (as produced by the CB-26P)is also known to reduce flat spots as well as the effects of performance tuning through high lift cams and competition exhaust systems!
FACT 2 - Fuel savings of upto 29.7%
You will notice a significant improvement in petrol consumption - especially at motorway speeds. Independent figures and real world tests show that, on anything other than the very newest vehicles, improvements in petrol consumption of 15% are commonplace! At speeds of 80 mph engineers Evans Halshaw actually recorded fuel savings of 29.7%!
FACT 3 - Less carbon deposits
With the Ecotek less carbon equals less exhaust and engine corrosion. With the Ecotek your engine, spark plugs and expensive exhaust system run at peak efficiency for longer, so it pays to go green!
FACT 4 - We are still paying the highest fuel prices in Europe!
This needs no explanation. Get one today!
Max Power magazine said - noticeable improvement in throttle response - especially in the mid range... and the petrol station visits have dropped radically. An Inspired technological invention.
Revs magazine said - Best Buy Award... a product we would buy with our own money ...a winner. Response was up and the car pulled through the gears much more smoothly.
Redline magazine said - The improvement was immediately apparent. The car now feels less breathless at high revs and seems to pull stronger than before.
And no I don't have shares in the company lol.

Well I'm glad you're happy with it, however there is no engineering reason for these gadgets to give the gains they claim. They basically introduce an unmetered air leak which makes the engine run leaner at part throttle. If your car was previously running rich under these conditions then this would improve economy. Getting the engine tuned properly would give the same benefit. Modern cars with lambda sensors are unlikely to run rich, and if an air leak is introduced the ECU will normally add more fuel to compensate.
The effect at full throttle is nil; there is negligeable manifold depression under these conditions so the device will have no effect. The 'explanation' that they work by inducing turbulence is complete hogwash, small scale turbulence induced in the inlet manifold will dissipate long before combustion occurs.
This is not intended as a criticism of you, but I remain certain that these devices are a con designed to separate you from your hard-earned money and I am sad to hear that you have wasted money on them and still plan to waste more money.
