328i Touring - 2013/2014
Discussion
N20 engine; sounds well/pulls well and the F31 touring is a good all round car
I test drove a 328i touring (base spec) before a few others and settled on my 2015 F31 325D touring
I was after spec more than anything else (and RWD, not xDrive)
But the 328i was good; drove really well and pulled really well. Quite reserved from factory; a decent remap brings the best out of them from what I read when I was still deciding back in Dec 2022
I couldn't find a 330i with the spec/in budget when I was looking, that was my preference and the 330Ds were out of budget or under-spec'd
Plenty of info re the N20 online, try to ignore most of the scaremongering (like they do with the N47 diesel engines etc)
As per the other post re 320/330D touring; it's all about due diligence, getting proof of good maintenance/ownership etc that's required. I'd want to see reams of paperwork; I wouldn't trust iDrive alone

Thanks a lot for the info. Got to say though the more i read the more i am worried about timing chain issues. Particularly as they seemed to affect earlier models (solved in 2015 with an upgraded tensioner?).
This is where I ignore what's read online as much as I can; there are plenty of high mileage cars out there with zero issues, but they've been serviced well and with regular oil changesIf you believed what's online, they'd all blow up at 100k miles...
You could always get it changed; but you're looking at best part of £1k for the work. So you'd need to factor that into the buying price etc
