Whats the market standard for these cars?
Thinking of getting on the band wagon!
Cheers

Harlow Jap Autos and Torque GT seem to be the go-to companies. I've seen a few on here have bought from one or the other and only good things to say about them (no experience buying myself but have followed them since the early days).

Both kind of at the top end of the spectrum but they do have long-standing reputations.

BHP imports is another tried and trusted name, same with JM imports

My two came through TorqueGT, people say they're at the high end but I've had a good service for the money I paid and will go back again for my next one.

Perfect, cheers lads.

Bit of a back story. I have an import business in Italy for American car and have seen the JDM stuff explode (I am old enough to be more on it too!) - I have a Chaser being sold atm, but have to send 22k$, blind to Japan!

I ll update once we see it! or not..

Another recommendation for Torque GT and JM. Bought from the former (easy buying process and fantastic after sales) and used the latter for work, really great bunch of people with a lot of knowledge.

Or if you're feeling brave take a gamble and buy blind. I bought via Goonet, very easy to deal with via a dedicated handler and WhatsApp. Goonet did all the paperwork and put it on the ship, I did everything when it arrived at the docks. It was all too easy.

The car arrived and it was a really good one. However I've seen/heard some horror stories. If money is no object I'd go TorqueGT.

That’s a Pandora’s box you’ve just opened there. I’ve been perusing Beforward.jp as well and would be interested in hearing anyone’s experiences using that site?

My Crown came from a place in Middlesbrough which had an eclectic selection of JDM stock.

Off topic, was that your Century at Bicester last Sunday? Definitely my favourite car of the day.

Anyone used japaneseusedcars.com? Been looking at buying through them and doing the paperwork this side myself. From what i can gather they just bid for you at auction and arrange shipping etc.

Yes, 12 years ago. Although it looks like the website hasn't changed!

I've still got the car I bought through them.

At the docks before shipping:

12 years later:

If I buy another JDM car, I'd have no hesitation in using them again.

I used BeForward for a Legacy GT a few years ago and it was a pretty painless experience. Probably going to use them again this year.

Other than the IVA requirement, are there any other differences if importing a post 2014 vehicle into the UK?

I had a conversation with someone who was bringing a particular car into the country and said they had to pay that manufacturer's UK distributor £3k for a letter of conformity. Does that sound right?

Just speak to the manufacturer before importing, then you know where you stand smile
