I just saw this on an eBay advert:
"Sadly you can no longer get a new UK C8 in RHD, only what's currently in the country available, Ian Allen motors lost their UK dealership in a Chevrolet restructure and no planned reappointment for the UK."

Is that true?

Rumour has it I have heard that from several people who should know but nothing official yet the rumour started circulating early last year.

With right hand drive C8s now I can not see how Chevrolet will stop importing them after all the development costs involved.

They're still listed on the https://www.chevrolet.co.uk/ website, and Ian Allen's facebook page (what little I can see if it as a non-facebook-user) seems to show new cars arriving within the last month.

I want one, in a year or two's time!

I doubt it,they have a strong customer base now being the only Chevy outlet left in the UK,

If it is true they will continue and do well trading as a specialist maybe even better without big bother looking over them.

Personally it wouldn't worry me as i can't stand the look of the C8 and try to ignore it far preferring the proper front engine cars,

Have tried to like them thinking they will grow on me but after seeing a C8 at Wheels Day in a horrid plastic blue just confirmed

that will never happen.

Yeah they have announced a new dealer partner haven't they. Can't remember who exactly but the headlines have been about the Z06 becoming available to UK buyers.
TBH I am more interested in the eRay. but I'll probably end up with an M8 instead. Or an M5..

Interesting development then, not that I would buy a C8. Hopefully the C9 will possess better styling. The C8 just does not do it for me plus it is rapidly becoming a bit too common. Each to their own.

Spoke to Arnold Clarke yesterday and I have to say as much as I adore the car, what a rip off we have to endure here in the UK to gain a RHD version!

Pricing up a Z06 model with pretty much every extra ticked including the Z07 package, carbon wheels, ceramic brakes, carbon exteriors etc etc this comes out as $171,210 or £140,000, so how do they warrant the £50,000 markup to sell the car in the uk?

I understand you have delivery charges and VAT, but there will be local taxes included in the US cost that would be removed and there are plenty of other cars that come across from places like China which dont incur that much import charges

Such a shame as it is an amazing car!

Blimey, TWICE the price I paid for my C7 Z06 with Z07 etc. Fair enough, mine's a C7 and LHD, but still......twice the price for a RHD C8......I am more than happy with what I've got!

For what it is worth the C8 should help to keep C7's especially Z06's prices from falling being the last of the proper front engine Corvettes .

If anything the very low mileage ones should appreciate while C8 prices continue to drop,

Sorry tried to like the C8 but after a couple of years still not engaging with me ,almost looks like three different designers were instructed ,

one for the front ,one for the middle and lastly one for the rear but they forgot to interact with each other before putting it in production,

Maybe Chevrolet should have given the Italians the task of designing their first mid engine sports car .

After saying that thousands have been sold so probably just me .

I like the looks as long as it's the right colour, or wide bodied z06 / eray. I don't like the square steering wheel and even though I've never driven one I am worried about steering feel. I hope it's nothing like the eps in my f20 1 series.

Once again it’s the UK government that’s screwing us…..
Add 10% import duty, then add 20% VAT and first year road tax…. There’s the extra £50k.

Yeah can’t say I care much for the C8 at all

And luckily my C7 is certainly in the appreciating category with about 6k miles on the clock.
Yes, I need to drive it more!
