Hi Folks,

Stepson has had a minor bump and needs the services of a body shop to tidy up the rear 3/4 and bumper of his already battle scarred Polo.

Car is only worth a couple of thousand and although the third party who hit him is paying I'd like to keep the cost reasonable as they are going to have a much bigger bill to fix theirs. Both are honest young lads so the last thing they need is a big insurance claim.

Any recommendations for somewhere sensibly priced in/around York? Heworth/University area a bonus.

Darryl at Auto Cosmetics near Sutton on the Forest/Strensall has done an excellent job on my G60 recently.

Thanks. Not the easiest to get to for a student away from home but not impossible, he'll have to put his bike in the boot and cycle back to town:-)

Anyone got any other recommendations? Heslington / Uni / anywhere easy to get to would be ideal.

I've used Autorefinishers in Dunnington (just off the A1079) and been happy with them, although was 5 or 6 years ago. Do-able from Heslington on the bus.

Motor Body Cosmetics in Elvington are my go-to. Highly recommended... again, not central but don't take the p*ss with their prices either. Must be a bus from Elvington back into town...

That’s Ian Ellis, known Ian for years really good bloke and doesn’t take the piss on costs. Does look after some very high end stuff as well. Looked after my Tuscan, which is a bh given the body shape & it’s weird Alfa Romeo paint, after someone scuffed the side. Did a brilliant job.

There is a bus, or was, into York from the village.

Please don’t overload Ian, he’ll never get my Elan finished! Ian and Geoff are very good, they’ve been doing big and small jobs for me and my mates for many years.

I've no experience of the outfit above, but they're on the right side of town for the University, and were advertising on the local free paper which came through my letterbox this morning.
