As you're all so good when it comes to advice :)

Can someone please recommend a pair of hair straighteners, is GHD the way to go?

You don't want to bother with them. Just get some clippers and have a number 1 and be done with it.

GHD is the only way to go. Simply, the plates on the cheaper ones aren't as effective, therefore you end up going over the same piece hair several times, which is how people end up with that 'bale of hay' look!

GHD are the product a good hair stylist will use in a salon.

They also lock moisture into the hair! Always use a heat protectant spray before using straighteners just for that extra bit of protection.

Excessive use of heat styling products will take their toll on your hair, I find it best to let hair dry naturally then use straighteners. This way you dont have to blast it with a dryer then abuse your hair by adding more heat to it.

GHD's are the way to go, I tried so many different types of straightners before getting my GHD's I could have saved a fortune just going straight for the GHD's

Suddenly straightening my hair takes 10 minutes rather than 40 minutes previously, it also does it a lot better too

I beg to differ, coming from someone who must have bought at least 5 different pairs at about £30 a pair before finding the ghd's. They definitely are NOT a rip off

The wife has jut bought a set of these GHD irons, initial reports and lack of swearing this morning suggest that they are much better than the previous ones.
She waffled something about 200 degrees and thermo ceramic thingybobs.....at which point I made it though the front door

Mine are made by Ceramic Tech, which heat up to 210 deg C. I've got very curly hair, but I only need to go over it once or twice with these straighteners. I bought them in a hairdressing supply shop in Milton Keynes, and they cost £85. I found them here for £65 www.salonlines.co.uk/forwomen/index.php?p=1&category_id=447&product_id=265. I'd definitely say don't buy cheap when it comes to straighteners as they simply don't work.
