Ignition live feed

Hello i want to upgrade the head unit in my 2006 1 series. A test lamp shows a permanent live (yellow ) at the power supply to the radio but nothing at the red, The original head unit works as it should but nothing on the Kenwood replacement. I assume it needs a switched live feed, separate from the permanent live. Can anyone help as to where i can connect to ? I want to upgrade to DAB as most of what i can receive on FM is Ken Bruce...
