What tool to check if m4 has been remapped?

I’m considering buying a g82 M4 from an independent dealer.

It has a few mods so I want to check if it has ever been remapped or ever had bm3.

Insurance companies seen to be able to check in seconds now so I was wondering what I need to buy to do the same?

As a one-off purchase, I would have thought a one-off inspection to include checks for remaps, and mileage discrepancies in the various storage points at a main dealer or trusted indy would be the best way forward. The cheaper dongly things wont get everything.

BMW dealers can tell when connected to their diagnostics apparently, so i'd get the seller to obtain a report from a main dealer before buying.
As an aside, if it has other mods you can be pretty sure its been remapped.

And with other mods it may well be pretty much uninsurable for many.

I think G81/2/3 need to have the ECU sent off to be unlocked by specialist companies before it can be read - so there’s a chance it might not be remapped as it’s not a cheap process. It might be less faffy now though since the cars been out for a couple of years.

I worry about bm3 and jb4 more than anything.

I’ll get a bmw inspection.
