Can anyone work out which special edition MR2 this is?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.
A family member who owns a mark 3 MR2 was recently told that the car is a special edition, but the person who told him that couldn't remember the name (and Google searches haven't turned up much).
It's a 2004 facelift model. Has a six speed manual gearbox.
It has red leather seats with MR2 written on them in like a holographic finish. We were told that most MR2s of that era with red leather seats had the seats put into them after they were imported into the UK, but the ones in this car were likely factory fitted in Japan.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yes it might be a Red Edition.
As far as I know, they only came in the Sable colourway, with red leather seats, part red steering wheel and red roof, and they have a 'Red' badge on the front wing.

Judging by photos, the 'red leather interior' was limited to the seats, top & bottom of steering wheel, & 'Doorcard' insert around opening lever is also red.
Oddly, the air duct inserts in front of rear wheels, have cars which look to have both sable body coloured & 'grey' (but the 'grey' could be poor, early photo shopping).

I believe the pre-facelift cars all had black plastic inserts and the facelift cars had body-colour inserts (eg mine, which is a 2004 reg, has Astral Black ones to match the rest of the bodywork).moorx said:

Perhaps this is also part of the 'special badging'?
I can't find a badge here on any other photo, except a VVT- i transfer/sticker for an early Australian model.

Yes, that's the 'Red' badge on the front wing I mentioned above.The one I went to view didn't have them, which (along with some other tell-tale signs noticed by my OH) was what suggested to us that it had been accident-damaged.
