hello

have been looking at the i8 for a while.

i currently have a 2017 640d. high spec. nothing wrong with it. i just have that itch we all get

id be looking at needing another 20k to change to the I8 and apart from the looks i cant really see what i would gain from it

the 640d has most options ticked - heated steering wheel - ACC - HUD which seem rare if not available on the i8

has anyone made a similar change?

i just cant help think 20k to change just for looks is a bit silly

thanks

I thought all i8’s had HUD?
Heated steering wheel is not required if you’ve set the car to pre-condition the whole cabin ready for your usual departure time.
No ACC but the standard cruise control works perfectly well, albeit with occasional driver involvement. No bad thing IMO!

I know someone who worked at BMW engine plant in Coleshill. They made the engines for the i8. The general feeling was they rushed getting from prototype to production. Lots of issues and warranty claims. For that reason I'd not have an early car. I'd at a minimum get the LCI or face lift type updated version if you must.

The BMW B38 engine is used widely across the range. Are you suggesting they are all about to go bang?

The car - not the engine only - got a lot of warranty claims and problems early in its life. This message came down to the engine plant from Head Office.

I am 13 months into owning one, i would go as far as to say its my favorite car iv'e had, i made the switch when my RRS got stolen.

Something i don't see mentioned a lot about them is how effortless they are to drive, its also very comfortable to drive..more comfortable than than the RR it replaced.

i dont regret it for a minute.

ETA Mine has HUD
