hi guys
I'm not a mechanic so immense apology for posting a noob question.
my airbag/seatbelt light has come on and couple of local mechanics has done a scan which showed SRS(Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System - AIRBAG/SGM-SIM) 930ABD ACSM: INTERNAL FAULT PERMANENT ERROR.
They've tried to reset and told me that I need a replacement.
In Australia replacement costs $2200 so I've asked them if I can source online (I understand most of these are from crashed vechiles so will need reset and reprogram) they are happy to replace and recode (but they say no guarantee...). Sourcing it online is like AUD $100 and $400 labour cost so it's a significant saving.

I just need to actually get to this unit to take it out and have a look at the part number for confirmation. I saw your picture posted at your site (thumbsnap f/1N6vkk9d)
but I just can't get to this part - is there some sort of instructions or videos on how I can get to the unit? And do I need to disconnect the battery before taking this unit out to have a look at the part number?...

I know many have suggested to just go to BMW for this but considering I'm probably going to fetch under $18000 to sell this car I didn't want to spend too much for this...
