Toying with the idea of selling our family van which is brilliant for throwing bikes and mountains of holiday stuff in and travelling around the UK. My middle aged-ness is starting to yearn for something comfy and far more refined BUT I want something "interesting" be it fast, premium, JDM etc that ideally won't be catastrophically ruinous in depreciation etc.

So far I can't see past an E Class or maybe CLS but they're a bit run of the mill (have a C Class and it's great but far from being what I'd class as interesting!).

Fuel, age, gearbox etc I'm open to anything but it's load lugging ability needs to be huge!

Good choice but a Legacy would be closer size wise to what I'm looking for but even that would be too small I think.

What about SUV options? I'm very much a fan of estates but could be tempted into an SUV. Already been scared off early L405 range rovers...

Forget the vomit inducing LPG, which is possibly even worse than a diesel, offered by macron - Surely a Lexus RX or a BMW X5 is the answer...

Or Infinity Q70?

That Allroad looks nice. But I’d always go 5 series of X5 - both with the twin turbo diesel (35d or 40d) as the torque always makes it interesting. For more fun stretch to a 540i touring.

A V90 T8 plug in hybrid would be a bit different. 390 bhp in total as well.

Or go old school with a V70 T6.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Either a 300 Sport in the new shape, or an XFR in the old shape.

V90 I really like the look of - will do a bit more investigation into the size of the boot although I assume its huge....
That AllRoad looks great. Lovely colour combo.
Really like the Jags too - need to look at how big the boot is vs my C Class and whether it'd be that much bigger...

Elgrand is something thats been on my radar but not sure I can cope with the look of them. That said, I watch quite a few youtube channels on the Japanese car scene and there are some amazing looking Elgrands etc over there so they have potential! Certainly tick the box for interesting, huge and being far more refined than my Transporter!
