If you read the corporate governance/ mission statements of the major sponsors of F1 teams they say all the things you expect of 2024. Highest integrity, diversity etc blah blah blah.

Yet they seem happy to be associated with F1 which has a pretty chequered history. We now have the Horner embarrassment, recently we had Marko making remarks about South Americans. We now have the FIA Mohammed Ben Sulayem under investigation and he already seems to have a rather odd history of gaffs

So why do Mercedes, Ford , Aston Martin etc etc not act in line with their corporate values and pull out

It’s the same with the broadcasters Sky TV and Channel 4. Same Corporate values but they dance around on a pin head with a softly softy approach to these people afraid to upset them with difficult questions. Yes I’m sure they are threatened with law suits but they need to show some leadership. At present it looks like they are afraid of ruining their freebies from teams like RB.

Add in the fact it’s hardly entertainment just boring weekend after boring weekend

It’s also a sport way out of line on diversity

You couldn’t really get much further away from the values these big corporates and broadcasters tell us are the bedrock of their businesses

You forgot to include the Mercedes drivers. Mercedes being part owned by the Chinese Government who are very good at human rights and diversity.

Saudi Arabia is also tops with human rights

How deep do you want to drill ?

For the same reason they all showed the World Cup after FIFA sold it to the highest bidder who worked hundreds of migrants to death to make the nice shiny stadiums, which now sit empty.

Because it reaches a global audience few other sports do and they dont really give a toss about ethics or they would not be prepared to send guests to dodgy countries.

It is just money, the only thing that matter these days in f1 in general other than who team bosses are banging.

I would suspect if the Red Bull team was sponsored by say a more family focused related company they would have severe issues with what is going on, but they are owned and sponsored by a company that introduces diabetes into the world at a higher rate who couldn't give a toss about anything other than selling cans of lethal pop.

Now if they had done something illegal on track and cheated etc as McLaren/Ferrari ING Renault did that is a different matter. Look at Tiger Woods fall from grace and what it cost him, billions I would guess in earnings and divorce settlements.

Conversely nobody gives a damn about the Bahraini government owning a stake in McLaren

Because corporate pronouncements about ‘ethics’ are nothing more than PR bullst, designed to create favourable media coverage from gullible journalists. What the corporates really care about is getting their brands associated with speed glamour etc in front of millions of eyeballs, ideally the eyeballs of people who can actually afford to purchase a Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, IWC watch etc etc. F1 has always delivered that for its sponsors, along with the best corporate hospitality in the business, which is why they keep supporting it.
