Power crazed traffic encounter earlier today...
Discussion
Earlier today I had an encounter with a traffic warden. It is years since I last had a ticket, as I am usually so careful not to park in the wrong place or do anything that might upset the road nazi's.
Anyway, earlier today I had to pop into town to pick up some post, and I pulled up with hazards on for about two minutes maximum.
You can imagine my dismay when I returned to find a little chap in a big yellow coat busily writing out a ticket for me. I explained that I had been unaware that there wasn't a few minutes grace for collecting some post and hadn't noticed the rather obscure sign, but he just wasn't interested in listening.
It really hacks me off. Take a little man and give him a uniform and all of a sudden he has a real power complex. I wonder if these traffic wardens actually get a kick out of their jobs? It was clear that he was happy to wield his power indiscriminately and I left with a ticket and a reinforced belief that it is usually the least successful in our society who enjoy using their power the most.
It's an interesting philosophical point. What do you think?

At least in northampton, you get an
honest-to-goodness-overstuffed-matress, of a lesbian slapping a ticket on yer windscreen, they wish to excersise their little bit of power, on men/motorists
wholeheartedly
sorry lesbians upset my gramma

But I wasn't impeding anyone, or causing any kind of blockage.
I always understood that the job of the traffic warden was to keep the traffic moving on the Queen's highway.
I think it was the fact he wouldn't listen or be reasoned with that irritated the most. He was probably a sad little social inadequate who was getting a kick out of ticketing a guy with a car worth more than he would earn in three years...

But I wasn't running him down at all - I was being very polite and reasonable. He would barely even answer me, and just looked down his nose at me.

What kind of idealistic fantasyland do you live in? They are there to get as much money as they can get their theiving hands on...
I know...
It was irony... The above is actually the description given them in early copies of the Highway Code circa 1960 after they were introduced....
You really must remember that if you insist on driving a really expensive motor - most people will notice when you park illegally (regardless of if it's causing a problem) - and will think "look at that arrogant t
t".
People who drive "flash" cars have to be seen to be nicer than other drivers. (It may well be an envious reaction from the populace at large, but I suspect it's the case nevertheless)

I suspect 'the motorist' adopts an unselfconscious tone of voice/stance when conversing with these trolls, in that we expect,
like them a verbal short-cut along the lines;
"gone just 30 seconds
did'ent see sign,
no change"
and blurting out in exasperation finally
" why don't you
off, back under the bridge!"
They i'm pretty certain, have the equal armoury of dialogue, at their disposal, mostly concerning a list of rules and regs, none of which are of the slightest interest to you or me

Question : is that true about driving off and if the ticket isn't on the car it isn't valid ?
And, if so, that begs three questions.
1. What would happen if I took the ticket of some poor sods car before (s)he came back and didn't know about the ticket ?
2. What's stopping you driving off with the ticket then throwing it away and saying that you never got the ticket ? (you word V's his I guess ... which leads to ...)
3. Whats stopping the nasty little Nazi, if you drive off whilst he's 1/2 way through writing the ticket, finishing writing it then throwing it in the bin and saying he put it on your car ? (i.e. lying)

Sorry to post slightly off topic, but i parked in a 'loading zone' that had a 20min limit on it last friday. I wandered into my mates house next door to pick something up, got sidetracked (for 4 minutes - timed as i was paranoid about tickets). Walked outside to see warden applying ticket to my car.
I took the opportunity to say some choice things to him, whereupon he told me that if i had a problem i should complain to the council, which was the most reasonable thing i have ever heard a warden say. I actually felt quite bad about what I said to him, but anyway....
What is the definition of loading in a loading area? I was technically loading, as i picked up something (my sunglasses) and then returned to my car. This surely is loading (in it's loosest sense), while he said that as i didn't own a commercial vehicle it wasn't 'loading'. Is it only loading if you own a commercial vehicle?
Apologies for the long post...

A few years ago I went through a phase of really hating traffic wardens - I'd had a spate of tickets. I found a good way to really pi55 them off is to approach and remonstrate with them when you see them putting tickets on other people's cars. Act really wound up - "Why do you need to do this? Do they you a kick out of it? I pay your wages!" All the usual stuff. Then when they try to trump you with the "NOW MOVE IT OR I'LL GET IT TOWED..." line casually reply "Oh I can't do that, it's not my car." Stroll away leaving them fuming and confused. Worked a treat the three or four times I did it. I was a bit mad around that time - too long in KSA.
As far as I'm awareso don't believe a word of it, a police traffic warden can reprt you for parking or moving (reported my chum driving through a bus lane) offences and doesn't need to actually put a ticket on your car.
A civilian, jumped up, tabard wearing, power hungry, too short to get into the police force, never hugged by his father, hermaphrodite porn buying, socially disfunctional, has a poster of a swastika on the wall of his room at his parents house, b4stard scum of the earth parking attendant, has to actually place the ticket on your car.
The best thing to do is to avoid talking to them lest you catch something and drive off as soon as is humanly possible.
Dave
PS I saw a yellow peril wandering the streets in search of prey this morning, at 04:45! Keep that traffic moving luv
