Oil light/level (992)

Oil light just came on in my 992 GTS (May 2022), showing it being 'min' and referencing adding a max of 1.3 litre.

I have the relevant Mobile Oil advised, and have added 1 litre and the message is still showing, and the app is still showing oil level as minimum.

I'd been out this morning in the car prior to putting the oil in, so assume I need to let it all cool down and the levels settle, before checking again, but assumed the additional added oil would remove the warning light immediately.

It's not as straight forward with the Porsche system I believe on the 992. Now that you have added the oil, go for a drive and let the car come up to temperature, so a nice 15-20 min drive so the oil circulates around the system properly, and then check the oil level on the dash. It should read fine then.

Yeah sorted. Spoke to the dealer.

Apparently you need to just let it run stationary for a few minutes and it resets itself.

Be wary about adding more than 0.5l at any time (despite what it tells you). I have been caught out by it then saying the oil level is too high!

I had to add a liter of oil to my 992, 4 years ago when it was on about 8,000 miles.

Over the last 50,000 miles it hasnt used a drop between oil changes.

Must have been the rings bedding in.
