With twelve drivers whose contracts end this year... It will be interesting to to see weather they shine or not during the next twenty four race weekends.

So we can take it race by race to see how they fare.

Will they stay, move... or be shown the door in F1.

NB: As some other F1 threads state... This may contain speculation.

Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)

The Spaniard is also heading into his last year with Ferrari and, while the same long-term deal hasn’t been mooted as a possibility for Sainz, team boss Fred Vasseur has also indicated a desire to see him stay on at the team beyond his current deal.

Speaking before Christmas at an event for sponsor Estrella Galicia, Sainz said the aim is to have a new deal with Ferrari confirmed before the 2024 season kicks off in Bahrain.

“We have to agree, and we have three months ahead of us to do it,” he said.

“Until the first race of the World Championship. Obviously, I want to renew and I would like to do it for more than a year. I feel perfectly valued by Fred and the entire Ferrari family and as a driver, that is your main priority.”

That aged well!

thumbup It was going quite well for Carlos... up until the last paragraph.

A lot can happen in a few months... as he has painfully discovered.

Or as FB puts it.

Carlos presented himself pretty ok today with a third behind the Red Bull duo. Nice overtake on Charles in the other Ferrari. I’d like to see him in a race winning car and team.
Photos of Jos Verstappen and Toto in the paddock having heart to heart. Maybe about a seat vacancy? Jos has said today after the race that Christian Horner has to leave Red Bull as he is splitting the team. Maybe he’ll threaten to put Max in a Mercedes ? Be careful what you wish for. A seven times world champion hasn’t won in a Mercedes for two years. No great result this weekend either. Would Max want that unpredictable car ?
Maybe Alonso could do with a new team? As he said today Aston is the fifth ranked team by race results. He deserves better.
The two Spanish drivers are both potential race winners in the right car.
Just a thought, Stroll Jnr decides F1 isn’t what he wants to do. Stroll Snr recruits Carlos to drive alongside Ferdinand. Then he recruits Christian Horner to be Team Principal. He would attract the right engineers and designers. Adrian Newey becomes overall Design Director. Then they start recruiting young British drivers at junior formula level. Stroll Snr is a business man and is looking for the profits. Money to him is just a tool to make more money. Aston Martin F1 would be sky high in value from Day 1 of that scenario.
Then he would have the English Ferrari rival he’s forever dreamt of which he could then sell off .

Stroll Jr SHOULD be on this list... but until Daddy decides to cash in, he's pretty safe.
Shame really... Aston would be a great team for developing some new blood.
(Wonder if Mr Steiner would be interested in investing in AM... the FO1.

Early days I know... but think that Checo really is toast @ RB now.
(Good enough to stay in F1 though... for now.)
