991 with water ingress into frunk
Discussion
My 991 has been on and off the road since before Christmas with various electrical issues. The best one was having to turn my headlamps off at night for the wipers to work, then quickly turn them back on again before I crashed.
I had some controller modules fitted, which only temporarily fixed the issues. Around this time the windows were fogging up when the car wasn’t in use, leading to the inside of the windscreen freezing over Christmas which was a pain.
When I mentioned this to the OPC they thought the whole thing was down to water ingress so asked me to buy a Porsche windscreen (£200 parts and £800 labour) to replace the autoglass one which was fitted to the car.
Had the car back a week and the luggage compartment lining is soaking wet again and the frunk lid is actually dripping with water, which appears to have condensed from the luggage compartment floor.
My headlamps have decided to be on all the time, and ignore whatever setting I put the headlamp switch to, but thankfully the wipers are working this time. Car is still fogging up inside from the moisture in the frunk.
OPC doesn’t seem to have a clue without taking the car in again, but can’t give me a courtesy car for another couple of weeks - has anyone seen water ingress into the frunk in a 991 or have any ideas where it might be coming from?

It's probably closer to the other way around, although according to Adrian Hull he had an OE one fitted for £630.00; said it doesn't have the badge but it's the same
Back to the subject matter: was changing the windscreen presented to you as a elimination process, or did they actually carry out any tests? It's all very well pointing at a non-gen part but of it wasn't the cause the of the leak, why sell you a branded one? Because they cannot investigate a warranty claim if there is a moody part in the equation?

Is the car under Porsche warranty? If so leave the car with them to work out?
It is. They had it for weeks over Christmas and new year and this is where I’m at. Once you’re happy with that, perhaps park it in a pitch black garage at night and then leave a torch/light on in the frunk and check around externally underneath around that area to see if any light is seeping through from anywhere (which could point to a hole). Worth popping the front wheels off and get the inner arches off in checking this out.
Try and give the car a heavy wash in specific areas that you may suspect being the problem areas. You can also use talcum powder to help you identify the location of possible ingress.
I’m not sure on the specifics of 991 but assume your heaters are all working ok and car gets up to temp, hence ruling out heater matrix.
Be careful when you do this, but dab down on the wet area with a white tissue and see if the fluid is any specific colour, smell etc. Antifreeze is poisonous so best to avoid the taste test!
