Morning.

Looking at various cars at the mo, after a petrol / auto hatchback and am a fan of less popular options smile
Any Mazda3 owners with an opinion? I am reading the 180PS Skayactive-X engine can feel gutless for example, plus can't find many (any?) owners with the auto-trans either blabla

But they look good and are far higher spec than a similarly priced Audi A3 so am still tempted.

Yes. Had a 2020 Skyactiv X GT Sport Tech which I took up to 50k miles and owned for just over 2 years and now have a 2022 version of the same.
The new one has the revised engine available from 2021 which is a bit smoother , has a tiny bit more power and torque, definitely a bit better than the previous one.
It is true that you need to rev it out but I still preferred it to the other options I looked at.
I considered the Audi too but spec isn’t anywhere near the same .
My car has HUD, adaptive cruise, adaptive LED headlights, heated steering wheel and heated leather seats ,cross traffic alert, sunroof, eg everything you could ever want.
My car is a manual so can’t comment on the auto.

Jumping on this rather than open a new thread. I'm looking at buying a 2019+ Mazda3 with the Skyactive G engine, I test drove one a few years ago however I didn't get the chance to get out on some B roads- how well does it handle?

I have had 2020 and now have a 2022 Skyactiv X GT sport .
I think they handle pretty well. For reference I have previously had many if hat would be the 3s competitors, such as Mini Clubman , Golf, Merc A class and Focus.
