I admit to being just a little bit anxious about how this one is going to turn out as I have a lot of history with this group. My very first comic when I first started reading and they remained my favourite for a good few years.

Rumour has it they will make it a period piece and set it in the sixties, if this is true then it is a brilliant idea. Cast looks good as well - so far so good.

If Marvel mess this one up then they are in dire straits indeed as I can well imagine they have at least 3 movies planned for this team.

They have had a few stabs at this before and it didn't end well. I just don't think The Fantastic Four are that popular.

They did ok with Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardian of the galaxy worked because rokit racoon was such a brilliant character.

Ben Grimm as the Thing has huge potential to be that brilliant character if done right - lots of similarities between the two of them.

Ben Grimm is the muscle so more like Groot.

The muscle yes but also the wise cracking, suffer no fools character with a big dollop of pathos that will undoubtedly be explored in a successful characterisation.

Quite a lot like Rocket really.

To be fair I really like the human torch with Chris Evans.
He was a good character imo.

Love the 60s 'retro-futuristic' aesthetic - hopefully we get to see a lot of that world. I wonder how much of the film takes place in their own alternate universe before they invariably end up in the main MCU ... It would be a lot more interesting than the usual modern MCU stuff.

Then by 2 the disco music and dancing thing just spoilt it. That's the trouble with Hollywood they think they've found a popular trope then ruin it by flogging it to death. See also the wisecracking gobshyte Deadpool.

TF4 and Spidey always seemed a little above merciless exploitation and studio stupidity, lets hope the new movie is good.

I like the idea of this film, but Ben sounds way too much like a teenager. He needs to sound a bit rough and gravelly like he's made of rock.

Absolutely Fantastic! Lives up to its name, one for the fans!

Incidentally I'm also now very much a fan of Vanessa Kirby.

Overall I enjoyed it, did have a couple of bugbears which I've put on my review on the films watched this week thread.
