Hi all. My 440 arrives next month, here it is on the configurator -

https://configure.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/configure/G26/4G...

I’m shocked at the insurance cost. Last year I paid £405 to insure my 2020 G20 340 MSport so this is a very similar car with the same engine. My best quote on the Meerkat site is £685 but they’re showing the car as ‘ 2024 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe M440i Gran Coupe xDrive MHEV, 2998cc Petrol, 5DR Hatchback, Automatic, £68685’. Is that the right car? I can’t see MHEV on the configurator.

Have you tried a quote on your existing car? They have generally gone up a significant chunk this year. My 435i renewal quote was about 40% up from last year.

It's correct.

The current 4-series (bar the M4) all have mild-hybrid technology in them.

There's a bit of a thread about insurance increases in general: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Most have gone up fairly dramatically, although the odd poster or two pops up to say their's has barely changed. Seems there no logic to it - I presume it must be logical to insurers though.

Mine went up a shocking 83% from £630 to £1,150 - nothing changed on the policy other than another year NCD making it 12.

Car is a 66 plate F31 335d, 45 year old driving since 17, no points or anything like that - I found that calling a few of the usual suspects was the best thing, comparison sites were all over £1k. Got it down to £850 in the end which is still a decent increase.

Insurance on my 340i would have gone up buy nearly £200 but after a bit of shopping around I got a quote that was only £20 more expensive.
