CarTeck vs Garador/hormann sectional doors
Discussion
Does anyone have experience of CarTeck garage doors? Garador/Hormann seem the most common recommendation on here for sectional doors, but 2 out of 3 of the local installers I have enquired with said that Carteck offered similar quality at a slightly lower cost. They also sell garador/hormann so install both.
Are carteck as good? Or do they get better margins with carteck?

Had one in for a couple of years now - Teckentrup branded. Seems to be the same as Carteck. Got a LiftMaster motor attached to it.
We had 3 local companies come to quote for the job. All did all the usual brands and all recommended the Teckentrup. Plenty of options around colours, windows etc
Not had a problem with ours at all. No maintenance needed so far although I'll need to grease them up this spring as they are getting a little squeaky at the hinges.

Thanks, I think teckentrup and carteck are the same company, much like hormann/garador. Good to know they have been trouble free!We had 3 local companies come to quote for the job. All did all the usual brands and all recommended the Teckentrup. Plenty of options around colours, windows etc

Yup got 3 custom sized CarTeck doors in my garage.
They’re great. The fitter recommended Hormann openers though.
Can provide pics if you want.
Thanks, pics would be welcome if easy to provide. Any particular reason they recommended hormann motors? They’re great. The fitter recommended Hormann openers though.

The fitter just said he thought the Hormann openers were a bit more reliable. I also wanted quite a lot of control options: keypad, remotes, internal buttons and app and not sure if that made a difference.

Good point, I need to think about control methods I want. What benefits does an app bring? Hadn't even considered that. The fitter just said he thought the Hormann openers were a bit more reliable. Pic as promised.

My doors are custom sizes (extra wide and a bit taller) and Carteck could make the top segment a little bit smaller than the others so the door finishes are the opening. Other manufacturers would only deal in standard sized segments so the top one was a bit taller than the opening and therefore the panels looked wrong.
I had them mounted behind, not between, the opening so that I have the whole width of the opening to drive through. Definitely worth considering if you have the option (you need a bit of structure behind the opening on the reveal to fix the mechanism onto).
I only went for the app option because it was there and I figured that if I was ever in a car without a remote fob I could still open the doors. In reality I got two remotes with each door so there’s plenty, and I’ve never used the app.
I use the keypad outside and the push button inside a lot though, when I need to open the doors when I’m not in a car or have a remote on me.

Thanks, they look good. Sounds like the customisation available was important. I'm also planning on having them set back to maximise width (assuming the structure is suitable). I don't think I'd use the app, but would want a switch on the inside to open them up.My doors are custom sizes (extra wide and a bit taller) and Carteck could make the top segment a little bit smaller than the others so the door finishes are the opening. Why not rollers? I started out wanting sectional but bought these instead

Roller doors are a bit more industrial looking and aren’t insulated.
I thought that initially it I picked a custom colour and think they look smart and decent ones are insulated. Also, when open take up very little ceiling space compared to a sectional which you may or may not care about.I replaced rollers with Cartech/Teckentrup insulated sectional doors. Got fed up with the dirty great roll at the ceiling, lack of insulation, industrial look and general draughtiness.
Been in since November and all good. One is about 3.2 metres wide and one is 1.250 metres wide.
The doors do open across the ceilings but I have downlights so didn’t worry about bashing the lights. Fitted internally for full width.
Yes it is a problem if you want to work on your car at night with the door open but I don’t fit into that category.
One thing I like is the internal switch is battery operated wireless with a sticky pad so you can put it anywhere without a load of wires to worry about.
The render is new so will tone down a bit to a lighter colour (I hope!).

We have a Teckentrup sectional garage door. It was installed about 10 years ago and we have not had trouble with it.
The door opening is quite a bit wider than the largest Hormann door but Teckentrup make much wider sizes and were the only company making a sectional door wide enough at that time. It is very heavily engineered.
