I understand, I have read, he was not treated too well by the programme. As others said came across as such a nice fellow.

That is really sad to hear. A lovely guy who had a fantastic demeanour.

Met him a few times through work and he was exactly the same as you see on the TV shows he was on.

One of the good guys.

RIP. I feel for his (young) family. He seemed to take the whole thing head on. Very brave.

Must admit me (and my mrs.) felt quite sad about this, normally 'celeb'/ people on the telly you don't know deaths are sad but for some reason this was quite upsetting in some odd way.

He came across as a 'good guy'.

RiP.

I read that too. So if he fell ill whilst filming or had to be flown back to the U.K. surely the tv company could have covered the costs?

He did seem to be a lovely guy and was my favourite on place in the sun. Such a shame.
Feel for his wife and young children.

As you say, really saddening to hear. Always came across as a genuinely nice person on screen so great to read he was like that in real life. My favourite presenter on the show was Charlotte Douglas, always looked as though she was about to burst with happiness and a real stunner, imo.

Freeform Productions Dropped him like a stone citing “insurance issues” but they also made “escape to the country” uk based, but decided to terminate his contract after 18 years on the show.
He never got over that and his mental health suffered as a result. What a stty thing to do to the poor fella.

Terrible way to treat the guy, he did 18 years but it's not a surprise. The missus told me recently a colleague in her workplace woke up to her 45 year old husband dead beside her one morning, leaving her widowed and three young children without a father.

Within a 48 hours the heartless of a company director was on the phone asking when she was coming back and after 3 days questioned her dedicated to her job.

He had young kids, was renovating a house in Newcastle and I'd hoped to see he would finish it before he died but he didn't get to do so. He was filming a lot of stuff with him and his kids as he wanted them to be able to remember being with their dad. Tragic and cruel to go at that age.
