BMW 320d SE F31 2012 infotainment upgrade

Hi all,

I was hoping someone might have some experience and/or advice about upgrading the F31 infotainment system.

I've just taken delivery of the car, which is great in almost all ways, but as I commute a fair way I am missing the ease and capabilities of more modern infotainment.

I like to upgrade to a system with DAB radio and apple CarPlay, I believe the car has the CIC system so can't be recoded at all.

So my questions would be:

- Would you recommend a specific upgrade package/brand?
- Do you need a new screen and "computer"?
- How hard is it really to install myself (I'm pretty average at getting stuff fixed...)
- Any recommended installers in the South of England? I'm near Southampton.
- Anything or any pitfalls I've not considered!

I know all these answers are technically on google, but there's a lot of choice and detail, so any 1st hand experience would be really great.
