I bought a car, distance sale on finance, car was delivered to me. I wanted to give car back in the 14 days under DSR. Dealer said I should pay off the finance first which I just about managed to do now dealer won't accept I'm cancelling the order.
There is so much conflicting information out there, I've read you have to cancel the car order with the finance people but they've told me to go back to the dealer. I've also read I can no longer cancel the car order with the dealer because I've paid the finance completely. I'm going round in circles. Can I cancel, give the car back and get a full refund?

You’ll get just as much conflicting information here as well.

Call citizens advice.

Sounds as though the dealer knows or think they know that if you pay off the finance they have gained the higher ground.

I agree that citizens advice is a good place, also speak to your building and contents insurer if you have legal protection, your insurance co might have it too.

Trading standards may be able to help.

Is there a particular reason why you are returning the vehicle? Has it failed or you don't like it or not as expected?

Falls under not as expected however this could be argued. It is probably easier to reject under DSR. Dealer emailed saying they have up to 28 days to respond (even tho I gave them 14 days, is this correct?
