Oh the joys of police work
2 hrs in the pissing rain with him standing under a tree in a lightening storm!

Saved safely in the end
Good team job
Me, dogs, cops, firearms team and firefighters

In the words of Derek and Clive

"Jump you er jump. Into this blanket what we are holding but not really" "Laugh we nearly shat"

On a serious note why did the guy douse himself in petrol?

He probably either works for the CSA or needs the CSA to do a proper job.....

Domestic - divorce and kid situation

He had the rest of the optimax in a can with lid off and was threatening a bomb type inc!

Sure he got charged with something but not my role at that time.

Life can be sad

But not this weekend

Are you sure he hadn't just paid over a £1.00 a litre for that Optimax and it was all too much?

Just being heartless for a minute, but why not let him get on with it?

Would you want to watch him burn? He may have a serious mental problem and whoever was looking after him failed him. Plus many survive for days and weeks afterwards. A slow painful death in intensive care all payed for on the NHS. Much better to spend and hour or so talking to him and getting him sorted out and earning tax again!

How do you try to throw yourself in front of a train? Did this chap trip during the run-up or something?

That's a good point. Petrol is actually very difficult to light when it's cold - the liquid is pretty inert, it's the vapour you've got to watch. I've spent many a winters morning holding a match to my petrol stove trying to get the bugger to light and it ain't easy.

Right.

And YOU would happily stand and watch a man burn to death? Even though you know nothing of him, and nothing of his circumstances?

Yeah, I'd happily watch Al Zarqawi et al roast away without a moment of remorse - but the above situation is different, you know nothing about the guy except the fact that he's about to kill himself in one of the most terrible ways imaginable.
