Hi, I've owned a 2018 M2C for a year now and its just used as a weekend summer car and always felt the brakes lacking in overall stopping power and i never got round to taking it on track last year but felt the standard brake set up wasn't really up to it anyway so i'd like upgrade to something better for the road and can survive the odd trackday
Anybody upgraded and has a setup they can recommend? The standard discs still have life but dont want to buy another set of standard discs if theres a better set up suitable

I have an OG and when it needed newe brakes I went for standard discs with Endless pads, braided lines and better fluid.

I have tracked it once at Bedford and it was more than up to the job.

I presume you don't have the 2NH option (400mm front/380mm rear discs). Maybe buy the discs & source a used set of calipers. Add a set of Pagid RSL29 pads for track use, along with Goodridge braided lines & Motul 700 fluid.

I agree stock M2 brakes are not great, over servoed and inconsistent and the standard pads fade fast. I put EBC RP1 pads in and they are much better ( I used to hate EBC stuff ), but not ideal. I’m probably moving mine on but if I kept it I’d probably go down the AP route.

The biggest improvement to this car has been changing out the stock coilovers for MP items. Night and day difference both in control and comfort.

For the odd track day and road use, brake lines, good fluid and Pagid RSL29, Endless MX/ME I think or DS2500. I run RSL29s. Similar use to you. They are fine but its the poo cooling at affects the braking performance too. So this year I will add front and rear brake cooling. I would try that first before going full AP front kit etc.

Thanks for all the replies.
Think i'm gonna go like some have recommended by getting braided lines, some better suited pads and better fluid however its the discs i'm not sure about.
The car has done 18k miles and on original standard discs. The discs still have life in them but i'm thinking it would make sense to but new front discs on if i'm trying to improve the braking.... buts its £500 for standard or around a grand for some EBC full floating discs.
Anybody tried those? Are they worth the extra compared to standard?

I don’t think the standard brakes lack power, but they leave a lot to be desired in terms of feel and stamina. As an ex racer road car brakes rarely cut the mustard even with proper race pads though Porsche RS models tend to be an exception. Even with race pads the standard M2 brakes are not great IMHO. I’ve never tried the bigger MP brakes but maybe that is the way to go as they come up used from time to time and obviously bolt straight on. You might just make a sideways move with EBC. Personally I’ve tried Ferodo DS2500 pads a couple of times but like most half way house pads they will wilt when you push and deposit onto discs with the usual results.

My old M2C I just put better pads, fluid and lines on and it was ok on track, didn't change discs as the car was low miles.

My now M4CS I have the EBC 2 piece disc and Bluestuff pad kit they do which I paid £1440 for 4 discs and 2 sets of pads, I've left the lines standard but changed the fluid for AP Racing stuff, this setup is much improved over the M2C setup I previously had

Friend of mine is an EBC dealer...

The part number for the kit is - P2DK055B for Blue pads or P2dk055Y for Yellow (linked below for price ref)

These are made to order and took a week from memory so everywhere always says out of stock

I have Pagid RSL29 pads in my OG M2
excellent performance, night and day over standard set up.

I don’t use the car for road use that much, it’s mostly x2 Ring trips per year.
So yes, 30C ambient temps, hard laps and they still work brilliantly.
