This week, I 'ave been mostly watching the Rolling Stones and Blondie documentaries on iPlayer. Both very good.

Any other good music documentaries worth a view?

Probably not your cup of tea, but I really enjoyed the P!nk documentary on Prime called All I know so far. It provides a really interesting behind the scenes insight into life on tour, whilst trying to balance the commitment of a family/kids. She’s quite a performer too.

I watched Laurel Canyon recently - documents the mid-60's LA music scene that arose in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood (Mama's & Papa's, Byrds, Doors etc + some Stones).

Musically it wasn't my interest (The Doors aside), but as a documentary it was good & had some decent period footage.

Edited to add: Dave Grohl's What Drives Us is also good - not really a documentary, but musicians vehicular touring experiences from an assortment of performers; bonus Ian Mackaye content as well.

Check out "Oil City Confidential" about Dr Feelgood. Certainly available on DVD if can't be found for streaming.

Try the documentaries on The Wrecking Crew, Muscle Shoals and also 20 Feet from Stardom (a doc about backing singers)

Also, the Classic Albums series are worth watching

If you can find the Fleetwood Mac one, you'll probably find that interesting.

The Daft Punk Unchained documentary from a few years ago was really good. Currently watching the Death Row Chronicles which is pretty interesting to say the least!

I see the Hendrix documentary music, money, madness is still on iplayer and is very good.
“It might get loud”-a documentary on the electric guitar I enjoyed many moons ago.The edge,Page and Jack White are in it.
Supermench, the legend of Shep Gordon is a good watch.
If you can find Harvest time by Neil Young it’s a brilliant snapshot of an age fifty plus years gone and when he was churning the music out.
Stones in exile, documentary on the making of exile on Main Street is a cracker.
IMDb may be worth looking a film up to see what the recommendations are for similar films,it saves me boring you all..

A lot of good stuff to be found in Iplayer Music category

Admittedly not strictly music, but the Noel Coward documentary highlighted a long list of achievements.
Never knew that he was raised in poverty, left school at 10 and adopted the clipped accent to overcome a pronounced stutter.

I'll have a proper think later but Funky Monks is a good one about rhcp recording bssm. Some really great footage of flea and the guys jamming etc. I believe it was on YouTube for free.

Maybe not what you were wanting but the documentary on Leonard Bernstein putting together West Side Story that the BBC re-screened in December was riveting. What a flawed but fascinating character he was.
It's not on the BBC at the minute but it is on YT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q5Chr9Ci1c

Saw the thread and was about to suggest that Blondie doc. Bit light on the band themselves, but the perspective it took was very interesting.

Anything on Frank Zappa is always fascinating. Very few musicians can operate at the level he did.

This barely qualifies as a documentary (it's 7 shortish videos on YouTube) but I very much enjoyed this series of the making of Nothing but Thieves latest album, Dead Club City.
