Hi all
I have a BMW with NBT iDrive. Last week while driving, the idrive decided to reboot; first ever time.
Today this happened twice within 20 minutes.
Really frustrating. Is there an easy fix?

When this happened to our 2017 F31 it got stuck in a re-boot death spiral needed replacing.

There was a cheap option of sending it off but we decided to fit a new ’computer’.

Same thing happened with the NBT in my F31 towards the end of last year. I got it repaired by a company called Revtronic. Not cheap, but an amazing service.

we had this on my wifes 2017 X3 year before last - the iDrive would just constantly go into a re-boot cycle so it was unusable.

I found via the internet that if you clear personal data (which apparently resets the system) it fixes the issue - i did this and we have had no issues since.

it is a faff because you need to get to the right menu / sub menu and start the process before it decides to reboot! if did take a few attempts.

The reset / data deletion process takes 15-20mins once started - worth a try

It worked for a little while on mine but it soon went back to rebooting itself again. 2016 330d. Not a constant cycle of reboots, but sporadically. E.g. start the car up after a refuel - reboot. Get in the car and just put the radio on - reboot. 30 mins into a journey - reboot and so on.

Another clue the iDrive HU was borked on mine is the mpg never moved. Permanently stuck on 49.2mpg. After the reset, it started updating again.

I have the BMW insured warranty, so I might just get it replaced.
