iDrive rebooting fix
Discussion
we had this on my wifes 2017 X3 year before last - the iDrive would just constantly go into a re-boot cycle so it was unusable.
I found via the internet that if you clear personal data (which apparently resets the system) it fixes the issue - i did this and we have had no issues since.
it is a faff because you need to get to the right menu / sub menu and start the process before it decides to reboot! if did take a few attempts.
The reset / data deletion process takes 15-20mins once started - worth a try

It worked for a little while on mine but it soon went back to rebooting itself again. 2016 330d. Not a constant cycle of reboots, but sporadically. E.g. start the car up after a refuel - reboot. Get in the car and just put the radio on - reboot. 30 mins into a journey - reboot and so on.Another clue the iDrive HU was borked on mine is the mpg never moved. Permanently stuck on 49.2mpg. After the reset, it started updating again.
I have the BMW insured warranty, so I might just get it replaced.
