Is it as easy as give £10k to beforward, 20% vat to hmrc, then an IVA test?

seems a decent saving

For owning, re-sale or what?

Have you factored in underseal, changing of infotainment if required. EU fuel mapping and speed limiter delete, Changes to instrument cluster if necessary etc. If for keeps have you factored insurance, parts and are uk dealers okay with working on them?

I know little about them, how much UKDM models are in comparison or if they are the same even. I saw an SX5 or some thing with an auto box and 1.5 for £19,995 so if this is equivalent or whatever then that seems pretty sweet!. One thing I can say with certainty despite the outlay for these, at least goes towards a car that is sought after by those who want that cute little thing in their life and have urban chic all the way up to hardcore off roaders who will tell you stuff about departure and approach angles, lightness and SWB benefits off road. Lots of peeps get a thrill nowhere near a track, or at least a tarmac one! That crowd/community spend some serious cash, The Shogun Pinin still has good values, and the JDM real tiny version too!

The Toyota FJ, Vitara, Bronco, Evoque and the defender. Christ even the Dacia duster are a good bet right now on popularity and resale value. Bad time to buy a winter capable car as that gets people thinking on them but ofc if you get a top down model then it's a good car to market year round

They got loads of press coverage, it became a bit of a darling in the automotive zeitgeist for a good while. The Panda 4x4 was very much treated the same way. I think the urban fashion chic drivers of these capitalise on that classless appeal like the original Mini had.

On road manners for most is compromised to say the least, the previous Jimny was also bordering on dangerous if asked to perform dangerous stunts, such as direction changes

You'll have duty and some other smaller charges too like the hmrc adjustment, shipping agent fees etc etc.

It'll still be cheaper than buying here but resale may take a hit. I don't know how easy it is to convert to miles as it'll likely be canbus. You could just run it in kms.

The IVA is the unknown for me, never done anything under 10years, so I would see that as a risk.

I'd run it in KMs, I didn't vote for brexit

I'm not buying one for its on road manners...

Should fly through an IVA surely, their UK spec cousins are type approved already

Hope it would.

Go for it. I don't think it will resale any higher than you pay, might be a 5k saving in the end.

The experience will be a fun project in itself, live once, doooo it

What is the relevance of Brexit to leaving the instruments in Kilometres or importing a car from Japan?

Its a reference to the news around being able to choose our own units of measure, like pints of wine. I'm happy with the harmonised units smile

^^^^^ Fair enough, I don't watch or read the news so am oblivious to that. Worthwhile noting that Britain has continued using quite a few of the old Imperial measurement units regardless of whether they were in the EU or not.

sorta yeah, you could pay an importer do you a lot of it for you, bhpimports is a good call, torquegt is known well in the country but they also charge a bit extra for the "secret" sauce.

many importers are afraid of cars requiring IVA test for some reason(guess it's harder to pass) but as long as you lights are pointing in the right direction and emissions pass you'll be ok. Especially with a "Stock" car.
