New BMW M2 improved finance deal
Discussion
Just putting it out there in case its of interest to someone, but i see BMW are now offering 4.9% APR on the new M2.
Some dealers are offering that as £799 deposit and £799 down (which i think equates to about £3900 discount in the deal).
Theres more discount to be had, judging by some of the listings for new cars on Autotrader.
Still not brilliant but a step in the right direction.
The 4.9% APR is also available on M3, M4 and M8.
No reason to believe the usual discounts on these dont still apply.

Wow what a steal! Form an orderly queue.
Its better than it was. I think from memory it was £1099 a month at one point with quite a hefty deposit. As i said, still not brilliant but a step in the right direction.
Apparently BMW were doing £4000 finance contribution Q4 2023. If they throw that in to the mix at some point that would certainly help (plus the other £2000 or so discount that can still be got from the dealer).
The more new ones they sell the cheaper the used ones become, which is a good thing.
Be very very careful if it's only one dealer or group offering this - as I've posted in another thread, a friend has just been quoted on an M340i touring by Sytner ... Overnight they managed to find a £150/month reduction when comparing it with the order I put in with another dealer (TRL).
Same deposit, terms, similar spec etc but his GFMV was £5k higher than mine ... Obviously where they'd found the "savings".
Fine if you plan to run it for the entire term and hand it back, no good if you want to buy it out / sell it at any time as that's a significant amount of potential negative equity throughout the term.

The 4.9% APR is BMWs incentivised finance offering for Q1, so thats legit.Same deposit, terms, similar spec etc but his GFMV was £5k higher than mine ... Obviously where they'd found the "savings".

I think all the dealer has done is drop in some of the discount you'd otherwise get in to the figures.
If you play around with the online configurator to have a deposit of £4699, you can get the payments to £799.
That looks like £3900 discount + £799 customer deposit.
I think theres around 10% available off so that £3900 could maybe squeezed as high as £6500 which would take the payments to £738.
Thats assuming 10K miles though, they may have tweaked the miles down to 6,000 and that would mean they're offering less discount than that.

I thought the only way they could do that was to tweak the mileage downwards, which would increase the optional final payment.Same deposit, terms, similar spec etc but his GFMV was £5k higher than mine ... Obviously where they'd found the "savings".

As you say, fine if you're going to hand the car back (and stick to the mileage limits), not so good if you plan on buying the car at the end of term.

Unless something's changed Guaranteed Future Values on BMW PCP's can't be set by individual dealers - they were always controlled by BMW Financial Services. Admittedly it's 4 years since I last had a PCP on a BMW - and the process could have changed in the meantime - but it would surprise me greatly if BMWFS are now allowing individual dealers to form their own view on GFV's....Same deposit, terms, similar spec etc but his GFMV was £5k higher than mine ... The new M cars are never going to be as affordable as they were because the list prices are are so high (unless the GFV is sky high).
I guess with the ongoing squeeze of people’s income, they’re going to need to find a way to shift cars so better deals will hopefully be on the horizon. I think it’ll be a long time before we see incentives like we did pre-covid.

Yes, the initial furore about them is over, so theres definitely some movement now.I guess with the ongoing squeeze of people’s income, they’re going to need to find a way to shift cars so better deals will hopefully be on the horizon. I think there will be better deals down the line though.
I've no particular interest in one, i just follow them out of curiosity.
I do like the interior of them and i'm sure they drive well, they're not a looker mind you (understatement of the week).
I couldnt / wouldnt stomach the depreciation on a new one though.

The interiors of the G series cars is a big step up compared to the F series even if the latest versions are doing away with buttons. I think there will be better deals down the line though.

The M2 is going to be bonkers fast but the looks kill it for me. I’ve seen a few in my local Sytner in various colours and they don’t look any better in the flesh to my eyes.

I didnt find it as hideous in the flesh as it is in pics. But its definitely not pretty. The M2 is going to be bonkers fast but the looks kill it for me. I’ve seen a few in my local Sytner in various colours and they don’t look any better in the flesh to my eyes.
They had a black one, which hides a multitude of the sins, and a white one.
The back of them is the worst for me. Just plain odd looking.
Had wifie in looking at them too and she'd similar thoughts. I liked the interior more than she did.
If i "had" to take one, it would probably be the grey though.
Not happening anyway.
I'll run on at mine for a while yet then see what piques my interest.

I’ve seen them in red and black and neither worked for me personally. The rear end is just a mess. They had a black one, which hides a multitude of the sins, and a white one.

I think the standard 2 series is an odd looking thing and a 240i in primer grey is not a good looking car. The purple suits it better.
The previous generation was always going to be a tough cat to follow and they’ve missed the mark from a design point of view.

Yes, the metallic purple looks really well on the M240i. Definitely the colour combo to have on it.I think the standard 2 series is an odd looking thing and a 240i in primer grey is not a good looking car. The purple suits it better.

They've definitely got it wrong with the new M2 in terms of styling. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Unfortunately, that last sentence seems to apply to most of the current range. Even the new 5 is a bit odd looking. They've definitely got it wrong with the new M2 in terms of styling. I have no idea what they were thinking.
