Had an email this morning from a company called Informa Hospitality Group offering premium Paddock Club packages a couple of GPs this year for £1,400. What they are offering would cost well in excess of £12k direct from F1.

I'm normally pretty hot on scams but checking them out, they appear legit and have responded promptly to my request for more info. The price is because of client cancellations.... but that still seems way too good to be true!

I missed out on a genuine offers like this a few years back where I was convinced it was a wind-up but a colleague booked and had a great time so I know that such deals can sometimes be had but something smells odd to me.

Anyone had any dealings with IHG?

IHG = InterContinental Hotels Group, i.e. Holiday Inn etc. Why would you choose a company name that was so similar, particularly as the I is not the initial of a real word.

Informa Hospitality Group say they have 13 years experience in hospitality but their website was registered 5 weeks ago.

According to their website, Informa Hospitality Group is a division of Informa Expo Limited. Informa Expo Limited was registered as a £1 company in August 2022 and has never filed any accounts.

The only director of Informa Expo Limited is 21 years old and lives above a corner shop in Wolverhampton.

Yeah - just established the same thing.

Their follow up email stated:

"Please note that all of our bookings are first confirmed by the FIA and will be confirmed in writing at your confirmation stage with us."

I"m not certain but I'm fairly sure the FIA don't sell tickets!

1. Website created from a Wix template
2. Words for the Monaco GP lifted directly from another hospitality seller.

100% avoid, total scam.

cant you just mess them about, asking for extra ticket quotes, say you work for a big company and interested in other events - see how ridiculous you can get before they realise the joke is on them.

might be worth looking at the email headers - may reveal useful info.

The fact they can't spell their own company name correctly and company number 14404597 is for WILSON & MELVILLE MEDICAL SERVICES LIMITED would suggest its a scam

Official FIA statement on IHG and Prive Global Events:

https://www.fia.com/news/warning-fraudulent-sales-...

“The FIA has recently become aware that companies named Privè Global Events and Informa Hospitality Group have sent emails offering to sell hospitality packages to FIA Formula One World Championship Grand Prix.

“As part of those offers, these fraudulent companies have been providing its potential customers with letters purporting to have been sent to it by the FIA to confirm the allocation of hospitality passes in the names of Privè Global Events’ or Informa Hospitality Group’ customers. Those letters can feature the FIA’s name and logo, alongside the names of bona fide FIA staff members, of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and F1 logo.

“However, Privè Global Events and Informa Hospitality Group are not authorised by the FIA (or any of its affiliated entities) to sell hospitality package tickets to Grand Prix. The letters that these companies have been providing to its potential customers were not sent by the FIA or any authorised entities. Accordingly, any representation from these companies relating to the FIA should be ignored.”
