Sealant or tyre at fault?

For those eagerly following my fat lad wants to get thin using a motor thread you may have seen that I'm looking to get my arse back on the bike after a period of absence.
Whilst I pontificate on whether a £7.5k E-Bike is for me, I thought I would get the gravel bike back into er.. gravel-worthy condition.
Having been gathering dust for 18-months I knew the sealant would require changing so cleaned up the Orange Endurance from the tyre as best I could and although I got rid of the bulb of it, there were still some latex patches remaining.
I filled the tyre with Muc-Off sealant, left it overnight and the below is the result - is this a result of crap sealant or are my tyres utterly past it?
Regardless, I've ordered a new set of Panaracers but I'm keen to understand where or if I went wrong.

Tyres are WTB Horizons in 650x47 and in decent condition.

I have had the same before but not quite that bad.
Yup, tyres look like they have more than enough tread to get well into summer. I have had the same before but not quite that bad.
I noticed I had a small thorn in prior to changing the sealant, less than 1mm in diameter but the Muc-Off did a really poor job in sealing - I did shake it well before installation but part of me thinks it was fairly old stock from the shop as the label was fairly faded.
I've just had my first ever failure on Tubeless in 4 maybe 5 years.
Road Bike, 18mth old/9,000km old ENVE tyres, Silca sealant. Got a pinprick of a hole in the sidewall mid-ride. Stopped, span it, sealant still pissing out. Pushed a stick into the hole and the sealant held after 3 or 4 minutes.
Pumped it up to 50PSI, hey fine but started leaking after another 30km or so - after a fast descent.
Repeated the above and it was fine all the way home.
Then before riding again, pumped it up to 80psi to see if it would hold....woke up to a pool of sealant.
So replaced both tyres - not far off needing replacing anyway.
