Has anyone else had a problem with the centre cam bearing on late cars.
I am building (well, helping a local lad to re-build) a 1997 MPI engine which is in a bad state - it seized up! On stripping it I have fouind that the centre cam bearing has come out when the cam was removed and the new bearing is a very light slide fit, not a push fit, into its housing. It must have been like that from new with an out-of-tolerance bore to the housing. Typical late Rover quality!
Just off to my tame machine shop to discuss the problem and save the block.
