Hi all.i'm sure has been discussed many many times.i own a 2007 e92 330d.it has a tu e at the moment.dpf out and straight piped front to back.egr out and deleted and a custom remap.it pushes about 320bhp and close to 600Nm torque.
My question is if i was to go for a stage 4 tunning which means and upgraded turbo, ulgraded intercooler, injectors from a 535d and an upgraded fuel pump, will the gearbox take the torque as i will be looking at around 500bhp and about 750-780Nm torque and if not which gearbox will be safe to get?
I have been looking after the car with a service wvry 5k miles and other maintenance on top.

If it’s a manual and the DMF is similar to the E46 the DMF will be the limiting factor. I found the E46 330d DMF struggled past 550Nm. Others may have different experiences.

What does your insurance say about these tunns? Is there a big lodding on Ure premium?

rolleyes

Mate, it's a 17 year old shagged out BMW. Don't waste your money on it. I bet it's already over 150k miles.

Given they have smashed out the dpf I doubt they know.

Re the auto box torque limit there are 2 6 speeds used in the M57 cars. I think yours has the lower torque limit of 600 and something Nm. I know lots of people exceed the recommended limit for these boxes. How long they last at that level, I don’t know.

Folk on here are taking the piss pal as it's 'tuning' and not 'tunning'

Ignore them; they disappear soon enough

320bhp/600nm is a bit of an odd figure for an m57, you should be at around 280hp / 700nm with a remap..
From what I gather the auto boxes are rated at 700nm although be warned that its not just the gearbox that you should be concerned about.
Id factor in replacements of the driveshaft guibos, the centre support bearing and if the differential pinion bearings are original and the fluid hasn't been changed you'd want to factor in the cost of having the pinion bearings replaced. They won't last long.

Thabks for the info.those numbers i quoted are rough as i would think a remap gives about 50bhp and then removing dpf and egr and programing them out would give another 30 odd so maybe close to 315bhp and as for the torque i assumed about 600Nm as the zf6hp26 is rated at 600max from what i have been researching since but i have read people pushing it to close 700Nm which what a zf6hp28 is rated at.i should put it on the dyno really to get exact figues vut do you think the 6hp26 of my m57 can be pushed to 680Nm or so without the fear of breaking?

In terms of longevity i dont know, its a gamble.
You should base your decision off whether on not you are prepared to buy a new gearbox and pay for the rest of the drive line needing overhauling at some point.

I understand what do you mean by the driveline needing overhauling?

Simply put, the current gearbox, diff, driveshaft, prop shaft and all associated bits will be towards the end of there working lives and by increasing the power you run the risk of breaking it.

Ref the insurance, I guess the other question was have you checked to see what they will cover you for. No dpf will mean no insurance for road use.

I wpuldn't push the power anymore unless i chamged the gearbox to an lci one?or if i did decide to go for max power with all the mods i initially mentioned, which gearbox wpuld you said should be safe to get and after that would the rest of the bits(diff, driveshaft ect) need to be replaced as well?
