Insurance for written off caravan

My caravan has been written off by the insurer and i am considering buying it back, but i have heard it is difficult to get insurance on a previously written off caravan. Does any one know if this is true? I have had a look on insurance comparison sites and they don't actually ask if it has ever been written off.

I didn't think legally you had to insure them - assuming we are talking about wobble boxes
