2007 Vectra SRI Z20NET - Haydock, Merseyside. Weigh it in?

My brother in law has had this 2007 vectra SRI for a few years but it's been of the road for a couple of months with a weird electrical problem.
The car is rough, dents in most panels, and whilst he misses the oomph, the cheap diesel shed that he bought as a stop gap is much more sensible...
So my question is:
Should be just scrap the SRI, or is the engine (a Z20NET) sought after at all? Maybe for the kit car community or whatever? Obviously Keen for him to get as much money out of the car as possible. The car looks like crap, but the engine was well looked after - I think he has receipts for Vauxhall timing chain replacement for example when he bought the car.
