New car on the block
Discussion
Hi all, thought I'd introduce myself.
Been on PH for quite a while with both MX5 and BMW Z4 and a regular lurker in most forums. I've had an itch for a V8 for several years. Almost fell for a Porsche 928GT before I got into BMW's but things just didn't work out so it didn't happen.
However this year the itch came back and I decided that a TVR was in order. Always loved the Chimaera from when it came out but had never actually driven one.
Fast forward a few months of searching, reading and watching auctions, and I finally lucked upon the right car for me.
A post on here pointed me in the direction of a club member who was looking to sell. After many photos, questions and a visit, I decided that this was it. I wasn't going to find another car that I liked more, had been better looked after, or had the work done that this one had.
So as of yesterday morning, I am now the proud owner of a Yellow 1997 Chimaera 450.
The car certainly does not disappoint. Fantastic power delivery, superb handling and amazing sound.
Looking forward to meeting other owners at some of the meets in 2024.
Fantastic Christmas present to myself.

Great colour. Has it got the yellow dials too, which seem to be a superb unique feature only on yellow cars?
Says he waiting to be corrected!
Yes original yellow dials. I know they were a factory option but not sure if you could specify them with only specific colours or not.Says he waiting to be corrected!

Basically TVRs were very bespoke to the original buyer. TVR could probably pick up the phone to their instrument supplier and get whatever you wanted.
I only bought a new TVR once, and now realise that the dealer didn’t let me know the full extent of what was possible.

Congratulations!
Thats one amazing looking Chim, perfect spec in my opinion. The seat stitching is a great touch and one I may have to remember for myself...
Enjoy! Is it a boxing day drive today?
