101.9 for Optimax just down the road here (Hampshire)....diesel is between 97.9 and 99.9 aswell!!!!

If you have toys in the garage chaps make sure they're full to the brim - you might be glad of them in a week or two...

And the public will go out and fill everything if they get wind of shortages again. Its not "panic buying" - its a rational response to a predicted shortage.

Ok, I know petrol prices are a very emotive subject, and I hate giving those very nice executives at the oil companies my money, but let's be realistic. Say you do 5000 miles a year @ 20 mpg, that's around 1136 litres of the good stuff. If it goes up 10p a litre, that works out at around £2.18 extra a week. I know, I know, it's always one way, and it hardly ever seems to go down, and yes it very very annoying, but how many people have done the 20-30 mile trip for a paper or loaf of bread ?. If £2.18 extra to fill up your £40K-£50K (and more), is really a problem, then perhaps you should think of selling it ?.
Sorry, I'm sure there will be people who don't agree, principle this, principal that, etc etc, and I also don't have a particular high regard for Messr's Blair/Brown, but I don't really see there's anything we can do about it, they do as they say, have us over a barrel !.

A Texaco garage on the A11 was asking 106.9 on Saturday...

As for the protests... heard rumours from a mate down at Dagenham already... seems the fuel ports are preparing themselves...

Next week, I will mostly be working from home.

Well that's less than half the national average. When I was commuting, I was doing 30k miles a year. Suddenly your £2.something becomes £15.00 a week. Not quite so marginal.

Incidentally, when I bought the diesel daily driver in June 2004, I was paying 72.9 per litre. So we're currently looking at a 30p increase in just over a year.

And my final point - of the pound per litre we're paying, the oil companies get 35p. Don't point the finger at them...

Still 94.9 here for unleaded, and 97.9 for diesel here at the moment. Which is stunning, because we're usually 5p more than the rest of the country.

Just filled the TVR up with optimax and it was 100.09 per ltr, this is where my little Smart car comes in, the one that you all have a laugh about.

Today 7th Sept, ADSA Aberdeen, unleaded 91.9 a litre,(sainsburys 93.9) sounds like they are really milking the motorist down south.

Actually this could be quite a serious point (not my habit, I know). Does anyone else get the impression that fuel prices have been milked a bit since the demise of the AA petrolbusters (or whatever it was called) comparison site?

There are regularly differences of 6p per litre between here and the nearest town - 11 miles away. That's nearly 23p per gallon!

i know what you mean i am not exactly a prude with my money ask my g/f how many shoes she gets a week but this is getting out of hand, we are the same i think it is 12p a litre in 6 miles, unfortunetl the cars i drive use the difference getting there!!

My local Shell garage hasn't had Optimax for a few weeks now. I asked then when they'll be getting some and they said probably not. The reason so few people are buying it now that the price has gone up so they'reusing the tank for normal unleaded!
