Sprint getting smaller

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet (or is it only for discussion on the well read pages of the TVRCC website) but I hear through the grape vine that sprint is to get smaller, not sure in which direction yet, but I hope not back to A5 size as I've just bought another A4 binder :rolleyes:
One nugget of information regarding the downsizeing was the reduction in the number of words allowed to RO's in the reports, but certain regions have been given more space than others and this has been based on the number of reports regularly received, as the TVRCC email net is full of holes big enough to drive a Sagaris through some regions have come out of this deal quite badly ;) And the regions that write 3 pages of drivel, (do we really need to know that Bob waved to Dave, and Dave waved back) will still be allowed to waffle along :rolleyes:

So has anyone else heard anymore about the changes to the Magazine we TVRCC members pay for, and would any of the paid TVRCC staff care to enlighten the members that pay their wages? :scratchchin:

Just had a quick look, went back as far as July and couldn't see any thread that looked like it had the answers?
To be honest I can only read a certain amount of the 'Everything about TVR is great' gushing out of every thread on there though, so I might have missed it

lol, that's probably cos i promised to write about our tasmin engine and didn't. I started it, but it was so dull i gave in. there's only so much glamour you can attach to blue smoke from an exhaust.
the trouble is that if you're in business then writing about your latest developments hands all your hard work to your competitors. not good business sense
One item of new you might have missed relates to Pricing in Proportion from the Royal Mail. I haven't read the fine detail, but the summary I've read in various organs suggests that postage for A4 magazines good be rising drastically next year.
At least on the TVRCC site you don't have to wade through a hundred threads of utter rubbish before you find something worth reading. And if you haven't found anything critical of TVR you aren't looking hard enough.

Try dropping an e-mail to the editor if you have comments on the content. You'll find his e-mail address in the mag or on the web site

Sounds familiar. In fact at the last TVRCC I nearly got killed by Yellow Peril when I said that my membership must have lapsed... only it hasn't. Last Sprint I received was February..!

I read this too. So first of all, they decide to try and cut the length of the RO reports (which it seems a lot of people read first BTW) - did this ever work..? What next..? Quotas..?

Yes, but the problem is the club has gone out on a limb with their forum. They've tried to take on an established forum (er, this one) and to put it bluntly - failed.

I understand their may be legal issues around technical articles (ie if you do it becuase the club "told you too" and it goes wrong) they are liable.
Agree with the rest of your sentiments though. Seems one person in particular beleives it is their magazine...
To be honest, I've actually started to lose faith in the club. I've tried to make constructive comments in the past, only to have them thrown back at me - in fact I even got some particularly snotty e-mails from the committee.
They seem to have forgotton that the people who make the club what it is, are the members... IMHO the committee would do well to remember that.

As for contributing, I know my RO recently sent in a very detailed report on a ride-drive day, complete with loads of pictures, to find when it was printed, it had be butchered to the point of "why bother printing it", and it was accompanied by no pictures !.

I know of several people that have submitted articles and pictures... neither of which have seen the light of day - or have been hacked to pieces.
As for the "it's not of sufficient quality" on the photograph front... that was the response someone got from photos taken with a Canon 20D...
To be honest, if it weren't for the missus saying "lets get membership together" I probably wouldn't bother.

Maybe she knows that you're too stubborn to renew, and is afraid to face the wrath of Yellow Peril?
Maybe she doesn't want you mauled round the edges? Have you got particularly pretty edges?
