Evening all….I’ve recently done a suspension refresh changing all coffin arms, tie rods and upper track arms. Had a full geo done and it was running very sweetly indeed! A few weeks ago the car developed a creak from the passenger rear. This only shows when warm, speeds up when accelerating and on further investigations seems to be a creak..

Car is a 996 96 3.4 c2, video below….i know it’s probably simple. I already checked for warped discs, stuck pistons and disc shield issues weeks back..

Any ideas?

I had similar from the front of mine sorted with new disc backing plates/shields but it sounds like you’ve discounted that.

My first thought from your description was top mount, but having seen the video I don’t think that’s right.

Wheel bearings perhaps?

Handbrake shoes delaminated from their backplates and fouling the handbrake drum, or a CV joint on it’s way out ...

Can you compare to the wheel and see if the noise is consistent with wheel position. If so the yes it is rotation of parts. I'd also add into the mix you could have some problems with the ABS ring on the drive shaft. I also had a problem where one of the wheel bolts was too long and it just clipped something behind and only occasionally - say when it was hot. But it was consistent with rotation so as wheel speed increased then so did it.

Disc removed, no issues with the shoes, bit of corrosion but nothing else….still making the noise!

Top mount id say. Remove and inspect
