Hello

have recently moved to the country side.

some of the back roads and super super bouncy and its very annoying.

are lowering springs ? (or any other spring) worth it?

Why do you feel lowering it will make it better?

It could be that the suspension is past it and needs a refresh; that may be why the car feels more bouncy; or its simply the state of the road and there's not a lot you can do about that, bar maybe running smaller wheels and tyres with bigger sidewalls etc

If you do want to lower; personally I'd stick with Eibach pro kit springs; they're progressive, so will be comfy when you're driving normally and will firm up when you're pushing it a bit etc

They'll not lower the car too much; but enough to close that wheel/tyre gap and whilst you're at it; fit all new top mounts all round whilst everything is off IMO

I assume the first point should have said "are super bouncy" rather than "and super bouncy"

With respect to "are lowering springs worth it", well that depends on what you are trying to achieve?

Lowering your car's ride height will do nothing at all to change the road & little to change your car's bounciness over bumps in the road.

An Msport car has had many millions spent on making it handle the way it does & it seems that from the sound of it now you have changed the roads that you drive on the car may not now be suitable for them.

Lowering your car will very likely make the suspension even firmer overall so depending on exactly what you mean by "super bouncy" it will likely make it even worse.

On top of that, your insurance company may well throw a double six when you tell them of the modification.

sorry i mean the roads are super bouncy / uneven which in turn makes the car go up and down like a roller coaster. very annoying and uncomfortable

i have read a few similar stories and a few people mentioned springs. i've never used aftermarket springs so unsure.

not too bothered about the car being lower. just ride the bumps better and not pogo as much (if possible)

i have looking at getting rid but the trade in values are stupidly low and i will not let myself lose 10k just like that.

I would maybe phone Rossiters of Kings Lynn ask for Loracan he is head honcho of AC Schnitzer uk distributers,a good guy see what he thinks re your M Sport ,you can get these springs fitted direct from them or many BMW Dealers or independants

My SE suspension not your M sports was sometimes like watching Ice Road Truckers really bouncing up and down as bad as that ,laughably so. ACS Springs made it so planted it was a joy to drive not too hard either

You need to replace dampers to control bounce, not springs!
How much it bounces is the job of the shockabsorbers, how far it bounces is controlled by the springs.
If it's lowered, the spring rate increases, making it harder, upgrading the damping reduces the number of times it bounces before it settles.

Lowering it might make it more annoying as it will be stiffer, if you want to go that route get H&R lowering springs. Maybe get your suspension checked incase of any shock leaks.
