Thoughts on this 996TT on Collecting Cars...?
Discussion
Hi all
Aside from the long service gap over a decade ago this looks pretty clean / cherished.
Thoughts?

I've never understood why outdated X50 package is sought after. A simple turbo upgrade and remap will be leagues better than any upgrade package from 20 years ago and you've still got the plastic CD storage so it's not like you got any expensive interior upgrades, just the same acres of plastic.
It's not just the turbos that were changed. You effectively had the GT2 setup as it included a taller 1st gear, different intercoolers, map etc. From memory it was about £9,000 extra so i think it's understandable why they demand a premium.julian987R said:
Why do so many of the Porsches of that era have that horrid (in my opinion) grey interior. I guess it was the trend at the time.

This. That's what I did at the time. ImbackYo said:
I'm fairly certain it had standard ICs and gearbox. Biggest difference was K24s, otherwise its effectively a heavy 4wd gt2?
Happy to be educated though without doing the leg work.
Correct. G96.50 in the turbo was the same across the range. Though their may have been a synchro upgrade or something iirc, but the ratios were the same.Happy to be educated though without doing the leg work.
G96.88 in the GT2 shared the same gearset but had a pressurised oil system and cooler, 2WD, LSD, etc.
It wasn't until the G97.88 in the 997 GT2 that a longer first appeared, I know, I've bought one and its a very rare piece! (Gearbox). This is also stronger than the 996 GT2 box.

Why do people call Turbos "TT"s?
Twin Turbos
I've seen an owner of a 992 non-Turbo car call their car a 911 Twin Turbo.
