ipod batteries
Discussion
A good friend of mine has a birthday coming up, and I want to get her a new battery for her ipod, it's either a first or second generation one (I don't think it matters). I have found this site : http://www.ipoddoctor.co.uk/ and it looks like a pretty simple fix, her battery at the moment only lasts a couple of hours.
Has anyone here ever tackled this ?, and how much warning should I heed to the static precaution warning ?

I replaced my battery with one from Newer Technology - made a huge difference to the battery life. They supplied a couple of plastic thingies for opening the case but these were pretty ineffective. Used a tiny electrical screwdriver to open the case, following the instructions. Once you get inside it's easy-peasey. Worth checking about the battery type - I think it does make a difference if it's first or second generation.

there's a static precaution warning? Oops, I didn't read that
Anyway, took a while to open up the ipod, but once it was open, the process was easy. My battery now lasts 9 hours instead of 4/5... much happier

I bought mine from here: http://shop.ipodworld.co.uk/iPodWorldSite/category/alliPods_Batteries%20and%20Power/
The ipod doctor ones linked above are the newer technologies ones too, going by the pdf install guide they have on the web.
They have a vanishlingly small amount of extra power compared to the OEM batteries though. Can't quite work out where their claims of 40% extra come from as they are only 100mah bigger than the standard for gen 3 (850 vs 750 IIRC).
