Hi All,

Need two new rears for the elise - currently running Bridgestone Potenza yadda yaddas....V rated. The place I normally get them from has been told by their supplier that they can now only get W rated...which typically are a fair bit more expensive (about 100 per tyre)

any thoughts all?

cheers

I think since the introduction of the 111r the W rated is standard issue these days.

However the price is more or less the same (IE high).

Have a look at this:
www.tyresave.co.uk/tyrspeed.html
V is designed to be good for 150MPH, W for 160
Do you travel at those speeds, hardly much need for the W rating on an Elise!

I understand quite a few S2 owners are putting Toyo T1-R's on there cars

Well exactly! I dont even do 150 or close so it's all a little irrelevant. maybe should try some Toyos..though I do like the progressive nature of the Bridgestones when I inevitably do something a little too quick

just a thought,
if the car is even capable of these speeds is it not a requirement by law for the correct rating tyre to be fitted? So we have no choice to over spec tyres, but can never under spec.
