Yes I know this has been done to death on here but I have what may be new info for some.

Just come off the phone to Orange upgrades asking when the 8800 will be available to be told that “that handset will not be available as an Orange branded handset for upgrades or new accounts”. Apparently the only way to get an 8800 on Orange is to pay full price for a SIM free handset.

Bugger :grumpy:

They could not give a reason why. Anyone know why? I know Orange do quite rigorous testing of new handsets before releasing them so maybe it didn’t pass. Or is it because the handset is so expensive Orange doesn’t want to subsidise it?

Bugger, guess I'll have to wait for the N91.

I'd wager if you're due an upgrade and go into the Car Phone Whorehouse you'll get one with your upgrade alowance deducted from the price, they seem to have all the handsets avaliable on any network and they're not locked into any one network. I do all my upgrades through them now and normally get handsets on Orange several months before you can get them directly, and at pretty good costs if not free.
